On May 26, 2008 at Aleje Ujazdowskie in Warsaw, an exhibition opening took place under the title: “Rotamaster Witold Pilecki – volunteer to Auschwitz”. The exhibition was prepared by the Institute of National Remembrance and the Lower Silesian Historic Initiative from Wrocław. It is another (after this website), common undertaking of the two institutions prepared as one of the many events to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Witold Pilecki’s murder.

Among the speakers who presented the exhibition were: Maria Dmochowska – the Vice President of the Institute of National Remembrance, Andrzej Pilecki – Rotamaster’s son, Kornel Morawiecki – representative of the Lower Silesian Historic Initiative, and Łukasz Kamiński – Vice Director of the Public Education Office of the IPN.

The exhibition, consisted of large vertical boards, presents a soldier, a cavalry captain, a prisoner and a victim of a judicial murder. The photographs presented, come from a Pilecki family collection, the IPN archives, the Museum of Independence, and the National Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau. The exposition can be seen in Aleje Ujazdowskie in Warsaw till June 16. After that, the exhibition will travel to other various cities of Poland.

The authors of the exhibition are: Jacek Jaśkiewicz (Institute of National Remembrance) and Dorota Serwadczak (Lower Silesian Historic Initiative).
